OCTOBER 2009 NEWSLETTER NEW Club Web
Site WEB SDR At the September meeting John Sommerville MW0XHO gave a
very interesting and in-depth talk about the Web SDR. A very different
looking radio to the standard, all whistles and bells version we have
got used to in recent years. To start with nothing unusual in the fact
that it was digital, however all the adjustment were carried out on the
computer, be it desk top or lap top and the number of filters was unbelievable.
In his demonstration John was about to isolate everything other than the
station he required. Although a wire antenna was run outside the building,
the radio was only demonstrated in RX mode, to say it was very impressive
would be an understatement.
The only correspondence received has been a reminder from the RSGB relating to the National Hamfest, on 2 and 3 October. As this date has past it is pointless publishing the e-mail CVARC WEB SITE Iain our web master has sent his apologies regarding the
October meeting. Some of you may be aware that he acts as a Safety Radio
official for a number car rallies and he has at short notice been asked
to go to FUTURE SPEAKER 4th November Martyn Schlangen Subject: Equipment used by the police for speed enforcement and what the use of safety cameras has achieved NEXT MEETING The next meeting will be held on the Wednesday, the 7th October 2009 at the studio.
