Alan Morgan- Callsign Unknown
Hi I wonder if Alan Morgan is a member of your club ?
I sold him my IC700 and I wanted to arrange to work him some time on 80m if
possible from your club station.

Back in the 60's I worked in Iran for
three years with a chap called Roy Worthington, GW3PNZ from Cowyn Bay.
He held the call EP2RW, mine was EP2EN. We had a regular contact with Frank,
GW3DZJ (Glan Conwy) for a while.
On my way back from Iran I visited Bob, OD5BZ in Beirut. He took me to his shack,
switched on to demonstrate the bells and whistles and put out a call. He was
answered by a station in New York who said "Bob, I've got a friend of yours
here, I'll put him on". On came an English voice saying "Bob, last
time I spoke to you was from the East, do you know who it is?"
"That's Roy, EP2RW!" I said to Bob. "Take the mike" said
Bob.
"Hi Roy! How's things?" said I, and Roy replied "Hang on a minute
Pete, I'm talking to Beirut!" Was his flabber well and truely ghasted when
I replied "Roy, this IS Beirut!!" To this day it still amazes me little
was said yet we each recognised who we were talking to half way round the world.
Roy had his wife and child with him, and of course his radio gear! I met up
with once back in England in Hemel Hempstead, but he went to the USA and I lost
contact. Despite searches on the internet by name and call on QRZ.com I have
had no luck in locating him.
I've just finished the first year of my second childhood and am getting a bit
nostalgic. It would be nice to know what happened to him. I wonder if any of
your members knew him or his family, or might have some pointers as to where
he ended up?
